Solid SDK, but pricing can be tricky

Glad I waited for one of their promo codes for the iOS PDF SDK this time around. It made a real difference on the overall cost for a smaller project. I've used Foxit for years, and while the PDF Rendering Engine is consistently robust and performs well, getting a good deal usually means going through their sales team for a custom quote, which can be a bit of a back-and-forth process. It would be nice if the online checkout had more straightforward options for different tiers without needing to always negotiate. Compared to some competitors like PSPDFKit or PDFTron, their documentation for system requirements is always clear, which is a plus.

Fantastic PDF Embed API!

I used the PDF Embed API to add document viewing functionality to our web portal, and it was so straightforward to implement! The performance is excellent, documents load super fast, which is critical for our users. I was worried about compatibility across different browsers, but it just works everywhere we've tested. It made our application look so much more professional and modern. I'm definitely coming back for the PDF Digital Signature API next, it's such a time-saver. Totally recommend Foxit for developers!

Easy to use PDF SDK

Got the iOS PDF SDK for my app. Downloaded it, integrated it. Worked as expected. No issues with basic functions. Delivered quickly after purchase. Simple.

Good product, but slow support

I purchased the .NET PDF Library for a project last month. The library itself is quite robust and integrated well into our existing C# application. The documentation was thorough, which helped a lot with the initial setup. I did have a question about a specific rendering issue with a complex PDF, and it took about three days to get a detailed response from their technical support. Not a deal-breaker, but a quicker turnaround would have been ideal. Overall, a solid tool for developers, just factor in some buffer time if you need support.

Can I get a discount if I commit to an annual license instead of monthly? Or does that not apply to their API stuff?

N Neil 2 months ago
Most of their pricing models usually give you a break for annual commitments. I'd assume it's the same for the APIs.

For sure. They offer an annual billing discount, usually like 10-20% off. It's a standard thing for software subscriptions, Foxit included.

Are there any free trials for the developer SDKs? Wanna test it out before committing.

N Nina 3 months ago
Yep, they usually have a free trial. I grabbed one a few months back to kick the tires.

Definitely. You can get developer sandbox access, I think that's basically their free trial for the APIs. Lets you play around with most of the features.

What kind of languages does the PDF SDK support? Need to make sure it plays nice with my tech stack.

N Noor B. 2 months ago
It supports quite a few! I know for sure C++, Java, and Python are in there. Maybe .NET too?

C Cody Nguyen 2 months ago
Oh, it's pretty comprehensive. You've got options for C++, Java, Python, .NET, JavaScript. Plus, mobile stuff like iOS and Android. Should cover most bases.

How's the technical support during the trial period? Is it any good, or are you just left to figure things out?

D Dana J. 3 months ago
They actually do offer support during trials! I was surprised, but got some quick answers to my questions.

It's decent. Not like 24/7 dedicated support, but if you hit a snag, you can usually get help from their team, which is nice when you're still evaluating.

Anyone know if Foxit does special pricing for non-profits? Trying to get something set up for a small org.

N Neil Ito 2 months ago
Pretty sure they do. I've heard of non-profit discounts for their software, so APIs should be similar.

M Mark F. 2 months ago
Yeah, they have a non-profit discount program. You'll need to contact their sales team directly though, it's not like an online coupon code or anything.
